Fu costruito nel XIII secolo e oltre ad essere stato dimora dei nobili fu anche usato come campo di cura, tribunale e come avamposto durante la Guerra dei Trent’Anni. Ora è di proprietà dell’industriale Hubertus Benteler. Il castello è costituito da un’imponente torre merlata, da un edificio residenziale e da un’ala laterale, il tutto circondato da alte mura. Nel cortile interno si ammira una lastra di marmo raffigurante un angelo con lo stemma del conte Johann Ernst von Thun
