E’ un’isola a nord est della città di Singapore. Il suo nome deriva dal fatto che in passato l’isola è stata sfruttata per l’estrazione di granito, ne sono a testimonianza le numerose cave abbandonate. Oggi sull’isola vivono solo poche centinaia di persone e questo ha permesso alla zona di essere salvata dall’urbanizzazione mantenendo la flora locale intatta. I turisti che si avventurano fino a qui sono per lo più amanti della natura e delle attività all’aria aperta.
