Era un anfiteatro coperto costruito nel 161 per volere del filosofo Erode Attico in onore della moglie Appia Annia Regilla, morta assassinata. Il teatro misura 35 metri di larghezza, è disposto su 32 file ed ospita fino a 5.000 persone. E’ stato restaurato nel 1955 ed è tutt’ora in uso durante il Festival di Atene, che si svolge da giugno a settembre.
