Grazie allo stemma ancora ben visibile posizionato sulla porta, essa si può datare intorno al XIV secolo, costruita dal maestro Juan Fernandez de Heredita. Nel 1908 la Porta dell’Arsenale fu ampliata, abbattendo le due torri laterali, da parte dell’impero ottomano per permettere al traffico che si spostava tra la Città Vecchia e il porto di fluire meglio.
