Fondato nel 1837 è il primo cimitero ufficiale di Atene. Immersone nel verde di pini e cipressi, ben presto è diventato il cimitero di personaggi famosi come Heinrich Schliemann (archeologo), Erns Ziller (architetto), Katina Paxinou (scrittrice), ecc. All’interno del complesso sorgono tre chiese, due ortodosse ed una cattolica, e due zone separate per i protestanti e per gli ebrei.
