La struttura risale al 1764-1774 ed è stata progettata dall’architetto Schraffl. La torre campanaria fu però completata solo nel 1804. La chiesa non presenta gli appesantimenti tipici del barocco ma ha un impianto leggero e ben proporzionato. Nel 1916 una granata austriaca cadde sulla chiesa e la rovinò, in memoria di questo l’ordigno è stato incassato nella parete della chiesa. L’interno è ricco di affreschi e statue che raffigurano soprattutto S.Giovanni Battista.
